Jan January 16 th The Corner House Shortlands Bromley Kent Dear Sir

I ought to apologize – but a house full of visitors has put my business matters a little aside. –

However I really had nothing to say – your offer being at the rate of just half what I am accustomed to receive for my American early sheets. – So we will say no more about the book –

But I should like much now & then to send you a paper for Our Young Folks – & also for the Atlantic Monthly – if you will tell me the rate at which you would pay – not for early sheets but M.S.S. manuscript articles.

I don’t write much now of anything – still I sometimes have a word or two to say – in prose or poetry – & have always a warm heart to American readers.

Believe me Very truly yours DMCraik. –
